This is thanks to the loving restoration by Andi and David, who have clearly put a lot of effort into successfully drawing out the period features whilst turning this into a luxurious botique hotel. And excitingly lots more is to come, as the restoration continues and the restaurant and wine bar emerge. Slipping into one of the long, claw-feet baths after finishing the Milford Trek, I felt like a gold prospector returning to town to blow my few ingots.
The focus of the area has since moved away from gold though tailing mining continues and towards wine and Olivers is an easy and pleasant cycle ride from quite a few great vineyards. David and Andi are extremely helpful and full of interesting suggestions. The breakfasts, also, were very good. All in all an absolute delight. Sadly was only able to stay for one night but subsequently wished we could have stayed longer.
From making the booking until we checked out, David and Andrea, the owners, were utterly delightful, friendly and accommodating. Nothing appeared to be too much of a problem and their thoughtful attitude was greatly appreciated. Stayed in the Horn Room which was a pleasing mix of traditional and contemporary and very clean. The inclusive, home-made breakfast was delicious.
The location was ideal and very central for our needs.
